What is Invisalign?
The Invisalign system involves wearing a series of ‘clear aligners’, which exert light constant pressure on your teeth, and are changed every couple of weeks, until our teeth are in the position we want.
How long does it take?
Because we would be concentrating on the front teeth, the treatment times are usually a lot less than comprehensive orthodontics, which can take 2 to 3 years.
As a result, usual treatment times are 6 to 9 months. This can vary depending on your specific treatment needs.
Will I need retainers?
In short, yes.
To prevent the teeth moving out of the final position, we encourage long term retention with removable and fixed retainers.
The removable retainers are similar to the aligners, but rather than exerting force to move the teeth, they act passively to hold them in place.
The fixed retainer is a wire that is hidden behind your teeth, that are sometimes needed to give extra protection from unwanted movements.
